My Songwriting Methods

In the following series of blogs, I will be sharing my techniques for how write songs. From my early attempts in the 70’s to the song I wrote today (47 years later), I feel my process may be of use to others.

In 1972 as I was walking down the street on my way to my friends house, I wrote my first “diddy”. It was a walking groove and the melody and lyrics just sprung out! At 8 years young, I was electrified with my creation. And thus began my life’s songwriting obsession.

There is no right or wrong way to create a song. With this in mind, allow me to share my techniques, insights, philosophies and methods.
