The other day I logged into SecondLife and was making a concerted effort to try and have fun. I needed to update my avie look so I went shopping. Found a leather jacket and some shoes. Bought some glasses that look like the ones I wear in physical life. Thumdar Yaffle in SecondLife
Cool, my avie looks better. Okay, now what? Where do I go? Yeah sure, there's people on my buddy list from There and I could IM them and go hang out. I got a teleport request from a friend and accepted it, arrived in the middle of a very dark club on the dance floor. Everyone had clicked on a disco light ball that activated a dance script and thus took control of their avatar making them dance together.

Since I received the notice that There was closing shop, I've been rather standoffish and unaffected. I don't spend much time in There so, what's the big deal? Besides.., there's always other virtual worlds to explore, new people to meet and then there's all that RL work to be done. So no big deal. Really.., no big deal.
Until tonight.
I'm in Cosmo Village hanging out with a bunch of old skool Therians. We're all actin' like noobs, running around, putting on weird looksets and just laughin' our azzes off. It was a blast!
An hour past and I decided to go visit some other friends who were riding the bumber cars at Chaz's amusement park. 10 minutes of that and I'm wandering off.., by myself (very typical).
Then it hits me. There is closing.

Virtual life or physical life: What is real? |

What is real?
We hear people use the terms "RL" and "In World" all the time. Those of us who have been active in any virtual world will no doubt have had a conversation (at least once) about virtual life compared to real life. It's been a hot topic for as long as 3D virtual worlds have been around. Well.., I have an opinion on this.
After spending many years involved with someone online, I have learned many lessons and have had countless discussions about this type of romance. Those people who have never been active in a virtual world will often times quickly dismiss these type of relationships as foolish or unwise. They will say that it's not real. After all ~ how can we be sure who the other person really is?
