What is real? When we look around us, we see our environment, those around us, nature, life. When we WITNESS something we have a strong sense that it is real. No, this isn't a blog about illusions, it's about possibilities of what MIGHT BE REAL. Tonight I had an interesting thought and there are two main subjects that comprise and work together to express this thought ~ this idea. The first is data storage. The second will be revealed later.
It was only about 20 years ago that an average person at home could create and save personal digital data. When the first personal computers came on the scene, people were able to create digital writings, paintings, and pictures and save them to a floppy disk. This was a big step in our evolution as a species. The first means of saving, or storing, information was done by scratching on a cave wall, right? Then we advanced to creating inks and paints and we learned to write symbols to convey ideas. Of course this evolved into creating scrolls to write on or books to write in. In the late 1800's we invented the camera and phonograph. Sometime in the 1900's magnetic tape was invented followed by the first laser discs. Then came the personal computer.
Before personal computers and the internet, people had to visit libraries, read newspapers or encyclopedias to obtain knowledge. Nowadays just about every person living in a relatively modern society has access to a computer and most of those people have their own PERSONAL library of stored data. We have pictures, videos, writings, documents and on and on. In this day and age, people FEAR having their hard drives fail. Why is this? Because we don't want to lose our data! We want to preserve our personal libraries. The reality that most people have their own personal libraries of digital data is really quite incredible, especially when compared to the history of our species. This is a VERY new reality for us. Sure, people have been writing in journals for hundreds or thousands of years and saving this personal information, but the difference is ~ that information was stored on bulky and degradable mediums. Today we can store an incredible amount of data in a digital manner, which can be saved and kept with little to no degradation for thousands of years (if not forever).
Ok, blah, blah, blah, I know, I know.., get to the point. For the first time in the history of our species, the average person can store huge amounts of data and the data can be preserved indefinitely. This is the first subject in this ideas makeup. The second subject in this idea is that of intelligent alien life. Sure, this is a classic debate that rages on and on, but have you recently researched the latest information about ufo's and aliens? If you haven't, then you might be surprised at what you find. Recently there have been many people that come from very high level positions that have come forward to flatly state that the phenomenon is real and that these space crafts actually exist. People like American astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Dr. Edward Mitchell have made it perfectly clear that they have had actual encounters. There are many NASA experts who have also come forward and stated that they too have had personal experiences and have raw data that shows this. There is an incredible infrared video that was taken from the international space station that shows many crafts flying in the background. Still.., this isn't a blog entry to make an argument for the existence of alien life, but alien life is the second subject that helps explain this idea.
If there is alien life and this alien life has visited this planet recently, then how do we know that this hasn't been happening for a very long time? Perhaps alien species have been visiting this planet for as long as the Earth has been able to support life. The universe has been around a long time, right? Is it not reasonable to consider that it is possible that other species have existed for millions, billion or trillions of years? If so, perhaps some have been visiting our planet since it first developed water. Ok ~ so here's the idea.
MAYBE ~ just maybe, somewhere out there is REAL data of many stages of life on Earth. It is possible that there is actual data (pictures, video, sound, biological) of different species that have lived on Earth.., like dinosaurs! If it does exist and you knew how and where to find this alien library of data, it is also possible that you could go through it and see the evolution and history of our beautiful Mother Earth. |

Also, what will happen with data storage technology in the next 20, 50 or 100 years? It is very likely that within a very short amount of time that we will be able to store all the worlds knowledge on one item of storage. Is it too far fetched to think that technology will advance to the point in which all the worlds knowledge could be stored on something the size of a compact disk? Hard to say, but it seems likely to me.
Let's just say there is alien life (which I personally believe there is an abundance of). If it is true that aliens have visited our planet, then this clearly indicates that they are an advanced species due to the fact that they would have likely traveled long distances and survived. Even if they came from another planet or moon in our own solar system, they would still be more advanced than us. And ~ if they ARE real and therefore more advanced, then they likely have also developed the technology to store huge amounts of data on very small sized media.
If aliens have been space travelling for longer than this planet has been around, they may have been visiting Earth since it's very early stages of development. As an intelligent species, they would likely study the planet. They would get pictures, video and sound samples of what they experienced, right? It's like going on vacation and taking your digital camera and saving the pics on a cd and putting it on your shelf to save as a memento. Maybe aliens have been coming here for millions of years and have created personal libraries of what they encountered.
